Workshop on Protecting Crops from Pathological & Climate Risks

Jighaura, Georgia: The Scientific-Research Center has recently organized a workshop to teach modern mitigation techniques relating to pathological and climate risks in the cultivation of apples and grapevines.  

At Agricultural Scientific and Research Center Jighaura, “Progressive Methods of Monitoring Pathogens and Climatic Risks, Their Integrated Management Approaches in Apple and Vine Crops” training was conducted for the Regional Services Information and Consulting Centers employees of the Rural Development Agency.  

During the workshop training, the instructor elaborated on modern technologies that may improve ecosystem mitigation protocols for perennial crop protection processes.  

Moreover, other trainers included Zurab Khidesheli, integrated plant protection research service head, and Zviad Bobikashvili, vision research service head, along with the Scientific and Research Center staff.  

Trainers’ participants practiced field sessions that included practical applications such as the manipulation of pheromone traps (and related agro climatic data) interpretation and application.  

SIP Agricultural Scientific-Research Center carries on with integration exercises with other sector representatives to share scientific and research based information within the region.

Modern Technologies related to pathological and climate risks

  2. Climate Modeling: The utilization of advanced computer systems to forecast climate associated challenges and manage crops more efficiently.

  4. Irrigation Management: The use of smart irrigation technologies to minimize water usage while maximizing efficiency.
  5. Genomics & Biotechnology: Creating new varieties of apple and grapevines that are resistant to diseases and climate changes.
  6. Pest Management: Application of integrated pest management techniques employing biological control agents and precision application.
  7. Data Analytics: Informing crop management and yield optimization through advanced analytics.
