Roseau, Dominica: The Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries, Blue and Green economy of the Commonwealth of Dominica, Roland Royer, alongside Minister Jullan Defoe and Lakeyia Joseph carried ahead their farmers’ tour, within the framework of which the officials of the Agriculture Ministry interacted with the farmers and farming groups of North East Agriculture Region.
The farming groups and agro-processors of the North East region put forth the matters of the feeder road network, storage and warehousing facility for fresh produce, herbs and spices
,along with the proper supply of water for irrigation and other purposes. The farmers also discussed the measures to curb praedial larceny.
Meanwhile, the “on-the-ground” visit paid by the Agriculture Minister has earned him accolades from the regional farmers, who commended his commitment towards the upliftment of the agriculture sector of the country while maintaining a personal touch with the farmers of the region.
Also, the Agriculture Minister, Roland Royer, has vowed his unconditional support for the farmers, who’ve been through a lot, especially during the times of pandemic.
As the Agriculture Minister noted, “The farmers have served tirelessly in the interest of the nation, which needs to be recognized and commended at the same time. They need to be validated with the added commitments from all extensions, administrations and the PIU/Emergency Agricultural Livelihoods and Climate Resilience Project (EALCRP).
It is noteworthy that Dominican Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Blue and Green Economy has been striving for the upliftment of the farmers and the entire agriculture sector, with the active engagement of the youth of the Commonwealth of Dominica.
