Tbilisi:Â The Director of the Rural Development Agency, David Tsitlidze, visited the greenhouse tents established under the framework of the “Women’s Pilot Program” in the Marneuli municipality of Georgia.
On this occasion the director also met the women beneficiaries of this state program. These women beneficiaries belong to the municipalities of Vani, Chkhorotsku and Chokhatauri to Marneuli to learn about the activities of the greenhouse projects.
Tinatin Odilavadze the head of the Secretariat of the Vice-Speaker of the Parliament of Georgia also attended the significant meeting. This was atteded by Zuran Fangani, the Deputy Mayor of Marneuli Municipality, and representatives of the Standing Parliamentary Council for Gender Equality and the United Nations Women’s Organization.Â
The director of the Rural Development Agency Davit Tsitlidze while speaking on the success of the program, said “After the successful implementation of the first stage of the women’s pilot program in Marneuli and Lagodekhi municipalities, we have made it available for women living in Chokhatauri, Vani and Chkhorotsku municipalities to use the mentioned program. Moreover almost the 100 women living in targeted municipalities were allowed to get finance under this program”.Â
At the same time the Rural Development Agency of Georgia organised the visit of beneficiaries from the Chkhorotsku, Van, and Chokhatauri municipalities to the Marneuli municipality to share their experiences.
It should be noted that sharing experience among farmers and providing field knowledge are among the activities outlined in the 2024 action plan of the extension services of the Rural Development Agency of Georgia.Â
“Pilot program for women” was implemented in Marneuli and Lagodekhi municipalities in 2022 under the memorandum signed between the UN Women’s Organization and the Rural Development Agency. Additionally, in 2023, the Rural Development Agency financed the program in the municipalities of Chokhatauri, Van and Chkhorotsku. Similarly, in the program’s framework, the co-financing amount provided in 2022-2023 exceeds 1.8 million GEL. Â
