Tbilisi: The special investigation services of Georgia informed about grant of special victim status of person who were part of protest. As per special investigation services till now 52 persons have been granted special victim status.
This data is reflection of last two-month collections. The special investigation services have shared this information yesterday.
The officials of the special investigation services also underlined that they are investigating the cases of misuse of power by member of police force and others. They further revealed their move to investigate matter of interference in working of journalists during protest.
The protest erupted in Georgia after announcement of ruling party Georgian Dream to suspend talks of European Integration in European Union. The protesters are alleging that this decision has been taken under undue influence of Russia.
The protesters also said that Georgian Dream is allowing undue influence of Russia in foreign policy of Georgia. According to them this will affect the foreign relation of Georgia with western and European countries also.
This is also to be noted that during these 50 days protest many people were injured. The peaceful protesters and independent journalists were also harassed by police and members of other law enforcement agencies as well.
SIS official further added that special investigation services also revealed that they are investigating the matter under article 333 and article 154. The article 333 related to exceeding official power by government officials. On the other hand, article 154 associated about the unnecessary interference in professional activities of journalists.
Till now 49 journalist along with 343 residents have been questioned by Georgia law enforcement agencies. However, till now no person have been booked for any illegal for violence.
Notably the government of Georgia comes under criticism of western and European countries for launching crackdown against the peacefully protesters. The authorises have booked many citizens have been booked but not a single member of law enforcement agencies have been booked so far.
