The Committee on European Integration of the Parliament of Georgia met with the Chairman of the Committee on Foreign Affairs of the European Parliament (AFET), David McAllister, and the members of the committee.
After the decision of the European Council on June 23, the parties talked about the importance of the visit of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the European Parliament, giving Georgia a European perspective and the steps to be taken on the way to join the European Union.
Attention was focused on the importance of Georgia’s implementation of the recommendations of the European Commission and its progress. The meeting also discussed the progress achieved by Georgia in terms of the implementation of the Association Agreement with the European Union.
“During the meeting, we discussed the decision of the European Council, which granted Georgia the prospect of EU membership. We also talked about the process of implementation of the recommendations of the European Commission, which is ongoing in the Parliament and which should be carried out with the involvement of all parties. The conversation also touched on the progress that the country has achieved in terms of the implementation of the Association Agreement. This agreement is the best guide for the country’s transformation, which we have with the European Union, and part of this agreement is reflected in the recommendations to be implemented,” said Maka Bochorishvili after the meeting.
Moreover, in the meeting, the conversation also touched on the security situation in the region, Russia’s military aggression against Ukraine and its impact on the security and stability of the region.
Maka Bochorishvili, Archil Talakvadze, Nino Yobashvili, Teona Akubardia and Herman Sabo participated in the meeting from the European Integration Committee of the Parliament of Georgia.
