Tbilisi: Georgia’s Minister of State for Reconciliation and Civil Equality, Tea Akhvlediani, held an introductory meeting with the Ambassador of the Republic of Latvia, Edite Mednes.
Tea Akhvlediani thanked the Ambassador for his strong support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Georgia in the internationally recognized borders of Latvia and stressed the importance of close, friendly relations between the two countries.
The Minister of State reviewed the apparatus’ work on both the priorities of reconciliation and inclusion, as well as civic equality and integration policies.
The meeting discussed in detail the goals and future plans of the civil equality and integration policy, noted the mechanisms and tools that are implemented within the framework of the State Strategy for Civil Equality and Integration and aims for equal inclusion of representatives of ethnic minorities in different spheres of public life.
Also, the Minister of State reviewed the humanitarian and legal situation in the occupied regions of Georgia. Tea Akhvlediani informed the Ambassador about the progress made in the implementation of the reconciliation and inclusion policy, which will improve the socio-economic conditions of the population affected by the conflict and artificially divided them.
 The aim is to deepen the dialogue between the Oeba and restore trust.In his turn, the Ambassador expressed his full readiness for further close cooperation with the state minister’s office.
