St Kitts and Nevis: PM Terrance Drew, Samal Duggins pays tribute to fallen hero Lee L Moore

Basseterre, St Kitts and Nevis: Prime Minister Dr Terrance Drew and the officials of St Kitts and Nevis Labour Party paid homages to the fallen heroes of the country as they visited their graves on Wreath Laying ceremony, a day before the International Labour Day.

Basseterre, St Kitts and Nevis: Prime Minister Dr Terrance Drew and the officials of St Kitts and Nevis Labour Party paid homages to the fallen heroes of the country as they visited their graves on Wreath Laying ceremony, a day before the International Labour Day.  Dr Geoffrey Hanley, Deputy Prime Minister, Dr Denzil Douglas, Senior Minister and Former Prime Minister, Minister Samal Duggins and Konris Maynard and Ambassadors Leon Natta and Kenneth Douglas also accompanied the Prime Minister at the ceremony.

The Agriculture Minister of St Kitts and Nevis, Samal Duggins, alongside Prime Minister Dr Terrance Drew and other officials of St Kitts and Nevis Labour Party.

The Agriculture Minister of St Kitts and Nevis, Samal Duggins paid his tributes to the national hero Sir Lee L. Moore, stating, “ I take this privilege to stand in the resting place on the fallen national hero, a stalwart of the St Kitts and Nevis Labour Party and the backbone of the Labour Movement and the entire Caribbean.

Adding further, Duggins stated the life of Sir Lee Moore has been an inspiration for many as he rose from being nothing to a national hero. He noted, “ I am really inspired by how great things have emerged from a place that most people render as insignificant in some cases.”

The Agriculture Minister Duggins also commended Sir Moore for his journey, hailing from a thatch-house to become a legal luminary and a hero amongst many. According to him, Sir Lee L. Moore is an example of where opportunities can take a person.

 It is noteworthy that Samal Duggins serves from the same constituency as Sir Lee Moore served in. At the same time, he remarked on the importance of scholarships as he has also been a beneficiary of a scholarship from a company back in 1997. 

According to Duggins, the provision of a scholarship to Sir Moore would have given him the impetus to enhance his involvement in community work and serve his people to the fullest of his potential.

Furthermore, he recounted the services rendered by Sir Lee L. Moore in the interest of St Kitts and Nevis. Notably, he has served in various capacities, such as President of the Labour Movement and the Union. He also served as the leader of the party and the Premier with excellence.

In the end, the Parliamentary Representative from Constituency 4 expressed his hope of serving the citizens of his constituency with as much excellence and efficiency as Sir Lee L. Moore did. As the officials paid their respects, he urged Sir Moore’s daughter to lay the wreath to the great stalwart of the party while thanking her and her family for their services towards the nation.
