Tbilisi: On December 7, 2023, a meeting with students of the Law Faculty of Caucasus International University was held in Tbilisi City Council. A large number of University students participated in the meeting to discuss the various issues relating to the function of the Tbilisi city council.
This meeting was organized by the Student Self-Management, And the students of the higher educational institution were received by the Chairman of the Legal Affairs and Human Rights Protection Commission of the Sakrebulo, Levan Zhorzholian. He along with other staff members gave a warm reception to students on their arrival at Tbilisi City Council.
During this significant meeting held in the hall of Dimitri Kifiani, the chairman of the commission provided information to the University students about the activities, powers, and specifics of the functioning of the city council and the areas under the responsibility of the Tbilisi Municipality.
Levan Zhorjoliani also spoke in detail about the activities of the Legal Affairs and Human Rights Protection Commission of the City Council and the importance of the issues within the commission’s competence.
At the end of the meeting, Levan Zhorjoliani gave a comprehensive answer to the questions asked by the university students, which were related to the activities of the city council, the competence of the commission and the responsibility of the municipality.
Meeting is being seen as a good initiative to make the students familiar with the day-to-day work of the City Council.
Moreover, the Tbilisi City Council administration also got an opportunity to apprise the students regarding its daily functioning. This meeting can also play a good role in bringing transparency to functioning of city council.
As public participation is very necessary to bring accountability to local administration, many people demanded that such types of meetings should be held frequently.
After the meeting, the university students expressed their happiness over this productive meeting. Students during this meeting got detailed information on the working of Tbilisi City Council. Students were also happy to get the positive answers to their queries in the question-and-answer session.
