The Olympic Committee of the Republic of Georga with the support of the Ministry of Sports awarded the winning athletes. They were honoured as per their sports results of 2023
The award distribution was held on December 15, 2023.
This was held with the support of the Ministry of Sports of Georgia. This accounting session of the National Olympic Committee of Georgia was held at the Pulman Tbilisi Axis Towers Hotel.
It is worth mentioning that the awarding ceremony of the winners of the nominations was determined by SEOK according to the sports results of 2023.
The impressive event was attended by Tea Tsulukiani Georgian Minister of Culture, Sports and Youth , President of the National Olympic Committee of Georgia Leri Khabelov, Members of the Georgian Parliament and representatives of the sports world.
The winners were awarded in various nominations as per the following.
Discovery of 2023 – “Olympic hope” became Mariam Ragimova, a trampoline jumper.
Discovery of 2023 – Wrestler Giorgi Tokhadze became “Olympic Hope”.
Georgian Judoist National Team became the best sports team of 2023
Davit Qlibadze was awarded for his special contribution to Georgian sports journalism.
Basketball player Tornike Shengelia became Georgia’s best sportsman in sports games in 2023.
Figure skater Anastasia Gubanova was awarded the title of the best female sportsman of 2023 Georgia.
Judo coach Lasha Gujejiani became the best coach in Georgia in 2023.
Sandro Bazadze was awarded for his consistently high sporting results at the Olympic Games and, World and European Championships, and European Games.
Similarly Bank of Georgia was named as the winner in the nomination – “Main Supporter of Olympic Sport in 2023”.
Weightlifting Lasha Talakhadze became the best sportsman in Georgia in 2023.
In the nomination – “Pride of Georgian Sport” – legendary bullet shooter Nino Salukvadze won. The award were given to the talented athlete by the Minister of Culture, Sports and Youth of Georgia, Tea Tsulukiani.
It should be noted here that Nino Salukvadze is the first female athlete who will compete for the tenth time in the 2024 Olympics in Paris next year.
A special award was given to the gold medalist of the XVII European Youth Olympic Festival – judoist Mate Gvelesiani, for his tough competition with the opponent.
Champions of these games, Zurab Kintsurashvili (Taekwondo) and Luka Shonia (Kickboxing) were also awarded a special prize for the highest results achieved at the III European Games.
Notably, the European Olympic Committee Special Award was given to the legendary weightlifter – Lasha Talakhadze.
Minster Tea Tsulukinai, speaking at the award distribution ceremony, stated that the government of Georgia is always committed to supporting the game culture of the country.
As per the minister, the Georgian government have already running a number of programs and initiatives for the upliftment of the sports culture of the Country; due to these efforts by the Georgia Government, many sportspersons have achieved wonderful success at many regional and international events and made the country proud.
The winner of the award expressed their gratitude to the organisers as well as to government for rewarding their hard work. A large number of the participants attended this event and appreciated the award ceremony they also extended best wishes to the sportsperson to makeing the country proud in future.
