Georgia: The World Bank has released its latest report on the Statistical Performance Indicators (SPI) for 2022, which evaluates the statistical services of the countries of the world.

According to the report, Georgia’s statistical system ranks 16th globally, surpassing 15 EU countries and several developed nations.

The SPI report is an annual assessment of the effectiveness and improvement of the national statistics systems in the countries, based on various criteria that combine five pillars, 22 dimensions, and more than 50 indicators.

The report aims to measure the ability of the countries to produce user-oriented, reliable, and high-quality official statistics, which are important for achieving global prosperity and progress.

The World Bank conducts this assessment independently, relying on various sources, such as data availability, quality, dissemination, use, resources, legislation, infrastructure, compliance with international standards, and international cooperation.

According to the latest data of the World Bank for 2022, the top three countries in the world in terms of the development of the national statistics system are Finland, Norway, and Canada, whose statistics systems scored 93 points out of 100. Georgia holds the 16th position with a score of 90.7 points, ahead of 15 EU countries (Austria, Estonia, Portugal, Slovakia, Belgium, Latvia, Greece, Lithuania, Hungary, Luxembourg, Cyprus, Romania, Bulgaria, Croatia and Malta). In addition, Georgia is ranked 14th among the 20 best European countries, and is the leader in the region, ranking the first place.

According to the same report, Georgia also outperforms developed countries such as Switzerland, the United Kingdom, Japan, Singapore, Australia, New Zealand, the Republic of Korea, Iceland and Israel.

The World Bank has been evaluating the statistical systems of countries according to these indicators since 2016. The 2022 evaluation report, methodology, and relevant details are available on the World Bank website and the Data Analytics website.
