Tbilisi: The Prosecutor’s Office of Georgia has filed charges against two person for the intentional murder. The office is investigating the matter further to bring the culprits to justice.
The accused have committed the homicide under aggravating circumstances they have been also charged under the category of group intentional homicide, purchasing, storing, and carrying firearms in a group, and the other person with the fact of providing false information for the investigation.
The investigation in this regard was conducted by the ministry of Internal Affairs. The investigation conducted by the Ministry of Internal Affairs established that on February 18, 2024 at night in one of the nightclubs located in Tbilisi the accused argued with the victim.
After the initial arguments the accused contacted his friend and told him about the incident. After that both of them planned to kill the victim as a group. On the same night the accused were moving in a car with illegally purchased weapons in Tbilisi, when they saw the victim who was on the street with his friend. The driver stopped the car, and the accused sitting next to him got out of the car and shot the victim several times with a firearm, who died as a result of his injuries.
Meanwhile it also came to light that on the same day the person accompanying the victim was questioned by the investigative body who stated that he knows the person involved in the conflict with the victim and is friends with him.Howeve to obstruct justice, despite knowing that the same person committed a particularly serious crime he provided false information to the investigation and stated that he saw the shooter who was not the person who argued with the victim in the night club.
Law enforcement officers arrested the accused on the same day. One person was charged under Article 109, subparagraph “i” (intentional murder, committed in a group), Article 236, part six, subparagraph “a” (illegal purchase and storage of firearms and ammunition carrying committed in a group) of the Criminal Code of Georgia, Which is punishable with a penalty of 16 to 20 years or life imprisonment, while the second defendant was charged with the third part of Article 370 of the Civil Code (provision of false information by an interrogated person).
Meanwhile the prosecutor’s office has already applied for the imprisonment of the accused as a preventive measure within the time limit set by the law.
