Georgia and Netherlands hosts meeting to Strengthen Cooperation

Tbilisi, Georgia, February 28, 2024: The Minister of State for Reconciliation and Civil Equality, Tea Akhvlediani, recently hosted an introductory meeting with Ambassador Meline Arakeliani of the Kingdom of the Netherlands. 

The discussions centered around crucial topics related to Georgia’s European and Euro-Atlantic integration, as well as the country’s commitment to peace and stability.

The Minister of State thanked the Ambassador for supporting Georgia. The Ambassador Arakeliani reaffirmed the Kingdom of the Netherlands’ unwavering support for Georgia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity within internationally recognized borders. This affirmation holds particular significance given the challenges posed by the occupied regions.

Tea Akhvlediani introduced the foreign diplomat to the priorities of both areas within the jurisdiction of the State Minister’s apparatus – reconciliation and inclusion, civil equality and integration policy priorities, results achieved, and future visions.

Minister Akhvlediani also emphasized the Georgian government’s peace policy, focusing on reconciliation and inclusion. The implementation of the peace initiative “Step towards a Better Future” aims to improve socio-economic conditions for those affected by the conflict.

Detailed discussions covered the human rights and humanitarian situation in the occupied regions. Reconciliation policies were highlighted, emphasizing cooperation and trust-building among divided communities in their diplomatic meeting.

Tea Akhvlediani briefly reviewed 2021-2030 approved by the Government of Georgia. Priorities, goals, and objectives of the state strategy for civil equality and integration.

The Netherlands commended the Georgian government’s efforts. Both sides agreed to deepen their cooperation, further strengthening the bilateral relationship.

This meeting underscores the importance of dialogue, collaboration, and shared values between Georgia and its international partners.

Tea Akhvlediani 

Tea Akhvlediani is a Georgian diplomat politician. She was born on 21 January 1975. She is the current State Minister for Reconciliation and Civic Equality of Georgia since 6 August 2020. She was the ambassador of Georgia to Estonia from 2014 to 2019.
