In 2024, the International Council of Museums will focus on museums’ role in the research, discovery, and dissemination of new ideas.

The theme for Museums Day 2024 further highlights the importance of the cultural sphere and cultural institutions in achieving better education, which in turn will lead to a conscious, sustainable, and inclusive world.
For International Museum Day 2024, the International Council of Museums invites people to reflect on the importance of education and imagine a future in which knowledge is shared without barriers and innovation meets tradition.
Memorial House Museums of the Union of Tbilisi Museums, as places of discovery and consciousness, inform us about our past – without interpretations, inspire ideas, and leave space to form our thoughts.
From 18-25 May, Tbilisi Museums Union Memorial House, in accordance with the theme of the International Day of Museums, launches an educational programs week, within which IMD024 relevant new educational programs and cognitive activities are prepared.
The objective of International Museum Day (IMD) is to raise awareness about the crucial role of museums in cultural exchange, enriching cultures, and fostering mutual understanding, cooperation, and peace among peoples. Celebrated on May 18th each year or around this date, the events and activities planned to commemorate International Museum Day can span a day, a weekend, or even an entire week. IMD was first celebrated 40 years ago, and since then, participation from museums worldwide has steadily increased.
Last year, over 37,000 museums in about 158 countries and territories participated in the event. The Tbilisi Museums Union is proud to join the International Museum Day campaign and invites interested individuals to participate in our week-long programs.
Our Memorial House museums serve as spaces of discovery and knowledge, offering insights into our past without interpretations. They inspire us with ideas and provide opportunities to form our own opinions. From May 18th to May 25th, we will launch a series of educational programs aligned with the theme of International Museum Day.
Throughout this period, the Tbilisi Museums Union’s Memorial House-Museums will introduce new educational programs and engaging activities tailored to the IMD2024 theme.
