Georgia: The meeting with the new project manager at the Ministry of Environment and Agriculture was a crucial step in addressing the current issues of ENPARD IV, underscoring the importance of this ongoing project.
First Deputy Minister of Environment and Agriculture Nino Tandilashvili and Deputy Ministers Tengiz Nasaridze and Kakha Kakabadze met with the new manager of the European Neighborhood Program ENPARD IV FAO (Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations).
Minister’s deputies congratulated Guido Agostinucci’s appointment on his new position and expressed their strong commitment to joint, successful cooperation, instilling a sense of reassurance and confidence in the new manager.
At the meeting, the parties discussed current and future cooperation issues. The discussion touched upon food safety, sanitary and phytosanitary sectors, and strengthening aquaculture and laboratory capabilities within the program.
Guido Agostinucci acknowledged the Ministry’s apparent readiness for the project’s effective implementation, which is bound to positively impact the project’s outcomes.
The meeting proudly noted that Georgia has made significant progress in developing the agricultural sector, which is a solid basis for the effective implementation of ENPARD IV. This instills a sense of pride and motivation in the audience.
The meeting held at the Ministry of Environment and Agriculture was attended by the heads of the National Food Agency and the Laboratory of Agriculture, as well as representatives of the relevant department of the Ministry.
It is noted that ENPARD-IV aims to support rural development through the following activities: development of rural services and infrastructure, improvement of governance systems, strengthening the role of women in rural development, sustainable management of forest resources, and protection of the environment; the program also envisages improving capacities in food security, veterinary and plant protection.
