A group of the wine professional under the wine master Kenichi Ohashi visited the Georgia. The Japanese wine professionals visited the wineries of the Kakheti region to get the detailed and practical information about Georgia wine.
It is to be specifically mentioned that as part of the tour the guests visited wine companies and wineries in Kakheti where they tasted Georgian wines of various names and got acquainted with the technology of kvevari production of winemaking which is the one of the best ancient methods still in use in many parts of the country.
The qvevri is an oval-shaped earthen pot. The grapes and other materials used in wine production are put together in this pot for fermentation. It is further noted that the ten-person group also included wine importers and media representatives. The impressions and evaluations of the tour participants will be published in Japanese publications and various blogs which will help to  promote Georgian wine in parts of Japan and increase awareness of Georgian wine at the international level as well.
Moreover the head of the Japanese delegation Kenichi Ohashi  is the only master of wine in Japan who heads the marketing company “Red Bridge,” a contractor of the National Wine Agency. At the same time  he was a member of the jury of the Georgian International Wine Award competition held within the framework of the #WinExpoGeorgia 2024 international wine and spirits exhibition in Oha.
The experts also said that Japan is one of Georgian wine’s strategic export markets. With the support of the National Wine Agency  the first large-scale introduction of Georgian wine to the Japanese market took place in 2014.
Since then  with the state’s support Georgian wine companies have constantly participated in the prestigious international exhibitions Foodex Japan and Wine and Gourmet Japan where presentations and tastings of Georgian wine are held in various Japanese cities. Wine tours are also organized for Japanese wine professionals and media representatives in all regions of Georgia.
