Giorgi Amilakhvari visits National Centre of Manuscripts of Georgia

Giorgi Amilakhvari, the Georgian minister of education, science, and youth  visited the National Centre of Manuscripts. He was accompanied by his deputy minister  Korneli Kekelidze. The minister learned about the centre's unique ancient treasure.

The Georgian national centre of Manuscripts has been named after the Korneli Kekelidze. The minister   got acquainted with the unique manuscripts on site, the center’s infrastructure  and the ongoing scientific research process to preserve Georgian culture and traditions.

 

The minister  inspected the exhibition hall named after Ilia Abuladze, the exhibition space of the memorial museum cabinets, the repositories of Georgian manuscripts, historical documents  and foreign manuscripts named after Ekvtime Takaishvili  and important intellectual and cultural heritage monuments preserved there.

 

It should be noted that the National Center of Manuscripts collections named after Korneli Kekelidze contain unique manuscripts of both church and secular content. The Korneli Kekelidze National Center of Georgian Manuscripts was founded on June 30, 1958  at the initiative of Professor Ilia Abuladze.

 

It is Georgia’s most important repository of ancient handwritten books and historical documents.  At the beginning of the visit the minister received a warm welcome from the center’s management. The minister also expressed his gratitude to the management for the grand reception.

 

The minister   read some of the old literature available here. The minister was happy to see the preservation of old books  which contain a lot of information about Georgia’s rich history, culture, and customs. On this occasion the management apprised the minister on how they are managing the entire old treasure of the center. The minister also expressed his happiness and lauded the management’s dedicated services.

 

According to the minister  the center can be handy for people who want to study the ancient history of Georgia. The future generation can also get deep information and understanding of the old values and culture of the country. The information was shared on the social media handles.
