Today an important event was held in city hall Akhaltsikhe Municipality. The event was held under the theme of “Environmental Education Day” to raise awareness related to environmental issues among the public.
The Municipality administration has taken to its social media handle to share this information. The official Facebook page of the Municipality stated,“ An event called “Environmental Education Day” was held in Akhaltsikhe Municipality’s City Hall. Moreover, within the framework of the event a thematic meeting-discussion was held with young people.”
At the same time on the occasion of this special event specially invited speakers, Nugzar Tateshvili director of Akhaltsikhe Center for Public Development and Malkhaz Narimanishvili lecturer of the ecology education program of Samtskhe-Javakheti State University talked about environmental issues with the young people present at the meeting.
The event’s key speaker also gave a presentation on the topic “Impact of energy efficiency on environmental protection” and discussed concrete examples of existing challenges and answered the student’s questions.
It is worth noting that Ketevan Mishvelidze, the head of the cultural service of the Akhaltsikhe municipality’s city hall, spoke about the necessity and importance of holding such informational and educational meetings with young people and expressed support from the city hall in this regard.
The meeting was organized by the Culture, Education and Sports Service of Akhaltsikhe Municipality. Its purpose was to deepen environmental education among young people and raise awareness in this direction.
The key speaker encouraged the youth to contribute to protecting the environment and reducing the negative effects of climate change. They also warned the attendees that climate change and growing global warming can create dangers for human existence in the future.
They also stressed that the time has come to take immediate action against global warming and climate change issues. So this is a crucial time when no more delay can be afforded.
On this occasion the attendees asked questions about the measures being taken by the government to tackle the issues. They showed interest in knowing what program the government is implementing in this direction.
