Tbilisi: The Public Defender of Georgia, Levan Loeliani today met with officials from the United States of America. In this meeting both parties discuss recently concluded election of Georgian Parliament along with many other issues.
It is worth to noting that the meeting became important as both sides discussed the issues of election fraud along with many other issues.
Many European and Western countries are raising the issue of election fraud. Many countries are also demanding an impartial and fair investigation of all incidents related to the election.
The Office of the Public Defender shared information regarding this important development on social media handles. The official also shared glimpses of historic moments on the office’s official Facebook page.
It is worth noting that the official Facebook page of the Office of the Public Defender stated, “Today, an extraordinary meeting was held between Levan Ioseliani, the Public Defender of Georgia and the Legal Advisor of the Department of Justice of the United States Embassy in the Republic of Georgia.”
Jeff Goebel the head of the US Agency for International Development’s Bureau for Democracy, Human Rights and Governance also attended the meeting.
Along with other bilateral and regional issues, all the attendees discussed the parliamentary elections in Georgia which concluded on October 26, 2024.
According to a source familiar with the meeting’s outcome, the Public Defender on this occasion, underlined the role of the public defender’s office in the whole process of fair elections.
He also explained to the US side what action the office of the public defender took regarding a complaint of election fraud.
At the same time both sides shed light on the progress of the relationship between USAID and the public defender office of Georgia. They expressed hopes that this relationship will continue in the future.
Other dignitaries who graced the occasion with their esteemed presence included Elene Ghudushauri, the Deputy Public Defender Kerry McIntosh, the Political Officer of the Embassy and Jamie Shufflebarger, the Director of the Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs.
