Tbilisi: The office of Georgian prosecutor has once again charged two another people for theft. Both of two have been accused of stealing expensive and old historical books from libraries of European Countries.
It is worth to mention that office have taken many such action to curb crime rate in future. The office has taken to social media handles for sharing information in this regard.
The official Facebook page of the prosecutor office stated, “The Prosecutor’s Office is all set to start criminal proceedings against two associated with cases of theft of expensive books from libraries in European Union countries.”
It also stated that, the office is investigating the entire mattes and facts of this case. Moreover, international investigative team has been created with support of Eurojust. While two have been charged for theft another two have been arrested for additional officer of assisting as well.
As per the investigation it was revealed that in the year 2022 some Georgian citizens have created a fraud group. They have duped large number of people with the use of fake identities and other documents as well.
The also establish eh organised gangs with use of fake names. They all have stolen the e books by various 19th-century authors. They main aim of theft was to steal books for resale with huge margin in other countries.
As per information the member of this group firstly borrowed books by 19th-century classic writers from national and university libraries. These libraries were located in France, Germany, Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, Switzerland, Poland, the Czech Republic and Finland.
Later on, they have replace these high quality original books with fake and duplicate books. all accused have been charged with Article 177, Part 4, Subparagraphs “a” and “b” of the Criminal Code of Georgia. The article defined offence of the theft committed by an organized group and in a large amount.
If they found to be guilty, then can be sent to jail for 6 to 10 years of imprisonment. The official of the prosecutor’s office said they will apply to court for their preventative custody.
