Georgia: The Prosecutor’s Office of Georgia has filed charges against two persons for the intentional murder. They have been accused by the office of murder of a person. The murder took place in the village of Gveleti of Kazbegi municipality of the country. The office is investigating the matter further to bring the culprits to justice.
The Prosecution Service of Georgia shared these details with the public through its social media handles on April 23, 2025. It should be noted that the employees of the Tbilisi Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia conducted an in-depth investigation into this crime.
According to the investigation conducted by the Ministry of Internal Affairs, it was revealed that on April 20, in the village of Gveleti, Kazbegi municipality, the accused stabbed the victim with a knife on the negotiation floor. The victim died in hospital as a result of the injuries sustained.
The investigation also found that the second accused at the scene knew that a grave crime had been committed, but did not inform the law enforcement authorities about the incident.
Law enforcement officers arrested the accused on April 22. One individual was charged under Article 108 of the Criminal Code of Georgia (intentional murder), which provides for a sentence of 10 to 15 years in prison. The second person was charged under Part 2 of Article 376 (Failure to report a crime), which provides for a sentence of 3 to 7 years in prison.
The Prosecutor’s Office will apply to the court within the time limit established by law for the defendants to be imprisoned as a preventive measure. The investigation into the criminal case continues at the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
It is to be specifically mentioned that law enforcement agencies of Georgia are working in collaboration to tackle the country’s increasing crime rate. The law enforcers are also organizing seminars and workshops to inform people about the strict legal provisions. At the same time, legal provisions are being made more strict so that accused persons can be prevented from committing offenses due to fear of the law.
