Zestafoni, Georgia: A celebratory event dedicated to National Clothes Day was organized by Zestafoni City Hall on Sunday, May 18, 2025. Notably, a costume march was also organized on the streets of city central.
Every year, National Clothes Day is celebrated in Georgia on May 18th. It is also known as the Day of National Dress.Â
It is noteworthy that Choreographic ensembles, wearing traditional, national clothes from different corners, publicly exhibited the country’s historical and cultural heritage in the streets of the city.
Participants of the Festival
The celebratory event was attended by the Mayor of Zestafoni, Vasil Gvelesiani. Along with him, Deputy Minister Malkhaz Shergelashvili, Chairman of the City Council Vakhtang Ghambashidze, representatives of the Municipality, and the City Council also joined the ceremonial procession.
Notably, after the end of the procession, Varinka Machavariani held a choreographic festival at the Tsereteli Theater, which has already been established as a tradition and is held on May 18th every year.
The Zestaponi Municipality City Hall shared the glimpses of the event on its official Facebook page on May 18, 2025. The City Hall also congratulated the citizens of the municipality on this special occasion.
The City Hall of Zestafoni Municipality stated, “National Clothes Day was celebrated today by Zestafoni. Join us in the festive procession, which was held on the central street of the city.”
The Mayor Vasil Gvelesiani congratulated everyone on the day of traditional national clothes. According to him, this day has already become a holiday and confirms the attitude of Georgian people towards national values.
In addition, it is worth noting that the choreographic ensembles of the municipality also participated in the festival. After the end of the festival, Vasil Gvelesiani and Vakhtang Gambashidze presented representatives of choreographic ensembles.Â
