Batumi, Georgia: The Prosecutor’s Office of Georgia has indicted one person on June 5, 2025, Thursday. He was arrested for the fact of illegal purchase and storage of a particularly large number of drugs.
The Georgian Prosecution Service shared the details of this heinous crime through its official Facebook Page. The police department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia conducted an in-depth investigation into this case.
Cause of charges
According to the details shared by the Georgian Prosecution Service, it should be noted that the Georgian Prosecution Service stated, “ the investigation conducted by the Ministry of Internal Affairs established that the defendant illegally purchased and stored narcotic drugs, which he was selling.
It should also be noted that the accused illegally acquired and stored a particularly large amount of 12.891 g of the narcotic drug “cocaine” (base) and 14.59 g of the narcotic drug “dried marijuana“.
Criminal charges were laid on the suspect
Notably, the detainee was charged under Article 260, Part 3, Subparagraph “a” and Article 273, Part 2 (Illegal Acquisition and Storage of a Particularly Large Amount of Narcotics and Illegal Acquisition and Storage of the Narcotic Drug “Marijuana”) of the Criminal Code of Georgia. It provides for up to 20 years or life imprisonment as a form and measure of punishment. Georgian law is very strict against drug-related offenses.
Notably, there is huge public support for the law enforcement agency for these drives to make the country drug-free and it should also be noted that the Prosecutor’s Office will also apply to the Batumi City Court within the time limit established by law with a motion to impose imprisonment on the defendant as a preventive measure.
The prosecutor’s office is pursuing a strict criminal policy against drug dealers, which it will continue to do in the future.
