Budapest, Hungary: On the sidelines of the intergovernmental summit between Georgia and Hungary, the First Georgian Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Levan Davitashvili, and Minister of Finance Lasha Khutsishvili met with the Minister of National Economy of Hungary, Marton Nagi.

Notably, the intergovernmental summit between Georgia and Hungary was held on June 11, 2025, Wednesday, in the capital of Hungary, Budapest.

The Ministry of Finance of Georgia shared glimpses of the meeting on its official Facebook page. The Finance Ministry also posted the details of the meeting along with its glimpses.

Highlights of the meeting

According to the details provided by the Ministry, it should be noted that discussions were held on the priority directions of economic cooperation between the two countries. It was noted that the relationship between Georgia and Hungary is exemplary in the region and promotes stability and peace.

The parties highly valued the holding of a summit between the governments of Georgia and Hungary, which will further contribute to bringing Georgian and Hungarian people closer. The Ministers expressed their warm gratitude towards the Georgian Prime Minister for organizing such a fruitful session.

During the meeting, the first Deputy Prime Minister introduced his Hungarian colleague to the trends of Georgia’s economy and provided information about ongoing and planned large infrastructural projects, which will promote Georgia’s cooperation with other countries in the region.

However, special focus was placed on the Black Sea Submarine Cable Project, whose successful implementation will have a significant impact on energy security in the region. It should also be noted that the cable project will also contribute to the development of the renewable energy sector and increase the interregional transit capabilities in the field.

Fruitful Outcomes of the Meeting

The meeting positively assessed cooperation in bilateral trade, transport, logistics, tourism, and other sectors. It also emphasized promoting cooperation between the private sectors of the two countries by holding more trade missions and business forums like this.
