The project- International Summer School of Georgianology: “Georgian Manuscript” has been implemented for the eighth time in the National Center of Georgian Manuscripts named after Corneli Kekelidze.
The Georgian National Centre of Manuscripts posted glimpses of the International Summer School on its Official Facebook page on June 16, 2025, Monday. The Centre also shared some information regarding the event along with its glimpses.
At the opening event of the school, the present community was addressed by:
- Zaza Abashidze, Director of the National Manuscript Center
- Zaza Maruashvili, Head of the Department of Science Development of the Ministry of Education, Science, and Youth
- Dr. Emilio Bonfiglio, researcher at the Centre for the Study of Manuscript Cultures (CSMC) at the University of Hamburg
- Irina Gogonaya, the Project Coordinator for Education and Tracing at the National Center for Manuscripts and also the head of the Ficatio project service.Â
The project was implemented with the financial support of the Georgian Ministry of Education, Science and Youth and the involvement of the University of Louvain (UCLouvain, Belgium).
The goal of the International Summer School of Georgianology is:
- To popularize Georgian sciences;
- To present the important achievement of Georgian culture – Georgian writing – on the international stage;
- To showcase the diversity of Georgian manuscript tradition as a product of intercultural relations;
- To create and cooperate the foundation for future cooperation between Georgian and foreign scientists and students Promoting the development of dream relationships.
Students and young researchers from leading Georgian universities – Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University, Ilia State University, Caucasus University, and others participated in the International Summer School.
Also, foreign listeners from Ghent (Belgium), Salzburg (Austria), Harvard (USA), Rome (Italy), Ritmann Research Institute (Netherlands), and the Institute of History of Ancient Civilizations (China) were present there.
Notably, the project was implemented within the framework of the Young Scientists Week organized by the Ministry of Education, Science and Youth of Georgia.
