Batumi, Georgia: The Prosecutor’s Office of Georgia charged and arrested one person over the death of three people in a car accident that occurred on June 14, 2025, Saturday.
The Prosecutor’s Service of Georgia shared glimpses of the arrest made by them on their official Facebook page on June 17, 2025, Tuesday. The Service also shared a small note along with its glimpses.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia investigated the case and found that on June 14, 2025, the accused was driving carelessly in Batumi municipality failed to ensure safe driving, and crashed into a parked truck.
As a result of the operation-search measures and investigations, it was also known at the time of the car accident, the person was driving at an excessive speed, from Batumi to Sarpi. Three people in the car died from injuries sustained as a result of the traffic accident.
The Law enforcement Officers of Georgia arrested the accused on the same day. Certain violations were charged against him- he was charged under Article 276, Part 8 of the Criminal Code of Georgia (violation of the rules of traffic safety or operation of a motor vehicle), which provides for up to 10 years of imprisonment as a form and measure of punishment.
Based on the motion of the Prosecutor’s Office, the Batumi City Court has already sentenced the defendant to imprisonment as a preventive measure.
