The Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia, Mariam Kvrivishvili, discussed the investment environment, field development strategy, reforms, and important projects in Georgia’s energy sector at a meeting with the Chinese company Zhongbo Group.
The Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia shared the glimpses of the meeting on its official Facebook page on August 14, 2025, Thursday. The Ministry also shared a small note about the discussions held at the meeting, along with its glimpses.
At the meeting, Mariam Kvrivishvili introduced the economic indicators of the country, including a detailed discussion of the development of the energy sector and the directions that the government is taking to support the private sector to maximize the potential of hydro-resources, solar, wind, and, in general, renewable energies of the country.
The opportunities for technology transfer, infrastructure modernization, and the introduction of innovative solutions that could help Georgia accelerate its clean energy transition and increase energy independence were also discussed at the meeting.
As the company’s representatives noted, they have a great interest in studying in depth and making significant investments in different sectors of renewable energy in Georgia.
Deputy Minister Inga Pkhaladze, Deputy Minister and Head of the Ministry’s Energy Policy and Investment Projects Department, and Alexander Sokhadze, attended the meeting with the Chinese company.
Zhongbo Group, whose head office is located in Beijing, was founded in 1991 and employs more than 10,000 people. With more than 40 subsidiaries, Zhongbo Group invests in the construction of 26 factories worldwide.
In the field of renewable energy, the group invests in and constructs large-scale solar and wind power plants, battery power storage plants, and combined renewable power plants. Zhongbo Group is one of the largest companies in China, with annual revenue exceeding 6 billion US dollars.
