Georgia: The Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia, David Songulashvili, visited the Akhaltsikhe regional office of the National Food Agency to review ongoing repair works. The official visit was held on Friday, August 15, 2025.
The Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia shared the glimpses of the official visit on its Official Facebook Page along with some information about the visit.
According to the information shared by the Georgian Agricultural Ministry, it should be noted that the Minister received detailed information on the progress and challenges of the National Food Agency’s state programs.
It was noted that in the Samtshe-Javakheti region, livestock farms are being developed. Therefore, veterinary events that are held in the region are critically important for the prevention of animal diseases across the region. Minister Songulashvili noted that multiple components play significant roles in the development of the agricultural sector.
During the visit, the Minister also highlighted the two crucial steps for boosting exports and aligning Georgia’s agricultural sector with international market standards. The two important steps are:
- strengthening veterinary services
- ensuring food safety
Furthermore, the Georgian Minister of Environment Protection and Agriculture, David Songhulashvili, talked about the renovation works carried out by the Government of the Country. He appreciated the workers involved in the construction process.
According to him, the activities of the Akhaltsikhe Food Agency contain three key areas, and all of them integrate essential measures without which it is impossible to develop agriculture according to international standards:
- veterinary services,
- phytosanitary control,
- Food safety.
