Zugdidi, Georgia: The rehabilitation of the Queen’s Residence of Zugdidi Dadiani Palaces begins on Wednesday, August 20, 2025. Notably, the Ministry of Culture of Georgia took the initiative to start the rehabilitation process.

The Culture Minister of Georgia, Tinatin Rukhadze, visited the site of construction and got acquainted with the ongoing rehabilitation works. Furthermore, the Minister hosted a meeting in Zugdidi and provided detailed information regarding the works planned within the framework of the palace restoration.

The Ministry of Culture of Georgia shared the glimpses of the Minister’s working visit on its Official Facebook Page. The Ministry also shared some details about the rehabilitation process along with its glimpses.

According to the details provided by the Georgian Ministry of Culture, it should be noted that the restoration project has been prepared with the participation of architects, artists, and historians of the National Agency for the Protection of Cultural Heritage, and once the project is completed, the renovated halls will be able to display unique items that have not been exhibited for more than a century.

As Tinatin Rukhadze pointed out while speaking to the media, Georgian museums should become an important part of the country’s tourist infrastructure, and the rehabilitation of the Queen’s Residence is the beginning of this large-scale project.

Rehabilitation includes the complete reinforcement of the palace’s structural drawings, foundation, balcony, and cladding towers. Also, the exhibition halls of the residence will be restored and their authentic, historical face will be returned.

Restorers will work on the unique Queen’s Palace for the preservation of the balcony, and a special drainage system will be prepared for the Prince’s Palace, which will protect the foundation from excessive rainfall. The last capital rehabilitation-restoration in the Queen’s Palace was carried out in the 80s of the last century.

Notably, the representatives of the executive and legislative authorities, Deputy Minister of Culture Beka Davituliani, Head of the Ministry of Cultural Heritage Salome Jamburia, and Chairman of the Strategic Council for Dadiani Palaces Development Giorgi Kalandia were present.
