Georgia: The Prosecutor’s Office of Georgia has charged two individuals on Monday. They were arrested for the illegal purchase and storage of a particularly large amount of narcotics and also the illegal sowing, growing, and cultivation of a plant containing a particularly large amount of narcotics.
The Georgian Prosecution Service shared the details of this heinous crime through its official Facebook Page on Monday, September 8, 2025. The police department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia conducted an in-depth investigation into this case.
Cause of charges
As a result of the investigation conducted by the Ministry of Internal Affairs, it was established that one of the defendants illegally sowed and grew a particularly large amount of 12 kg. and 627 g. of “plant hemp” containing narcotics, while the second defendant – 160 kg. and 409 g. He also illegally purchased and stored a particularly large amount of 3 kg. and 628 g. of raw narcotics and 876.12 g. of dried “marijuana”.
Criminal charges were laid against the suspect
One person was charged under Article 260, Part 2, Subparagraphs “e” and “a” of Part 3 of the Criminal Code of Georgia (illegal purchase and storage of a particularly large amount of narcotic drugs by a person convicted of a drug crime) and Article 265, Part 2, Subparagraphs “e” and “a” of Part 3 of the Criminal Code of Georgia (illegal sowing, growing and cultivation of a plant containing a particularly large amount of narcotic drugs by a person convicted of a drug crime), which provides for a sentence of up to 20 years or life imprisonment.
The other person was charged under Article 265, Part 2, Subparagraphs “e” and “a” of Part 3 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which provides for a sentence of up to 12 years of imprisonment.
Based on the prosecutor’s motion, one defendant has already been sentenced to imprisonment as a preventive measure, while the court will consider the issue of imposing imprisonment on the other within the time limit established by law.
