Tbilisi, Georgia: Another large-scale infrastructure project has been implemented in the capital city; the complete rehabilitation of Kakutsa Cholokashvili and Giorgi Tsereteli streets in Vaki district has been completed.
Works on the road section from Vake Park to Tskneti Highway N6, 13,000 sq.m. It was implemented on the M area and included both the complete renovation of underground communications and the arrangement of road infrastructure with modern standards.
The Mayor of Tbilisi, Kakha Kaladze, got acquainted with Vice-Mayor Giorgi Tkemaladze and Chairman of the City Council Zurab Abashidze. During the inspection works, he noted, “We have completed one more large-scale, important infrastructural project – rehabilitation of Cholokashvili and Tsereteli streets in Vaki district. The situation here was the worst. So, the first thing we did was a complete renovation of underground communications.”
He also stated, “As part of the project, underground bins were set up, lighting poles were installed, and landscaping was carried out. We had to work in 24-hour mode, which, in terms of noise, was a great discomfort.”
The Tbilisi mayor said, “I would like to thank the locals for their patience and support, as it is their involvement that projects like this happen in the Capital. Also, I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the employees of the companies who participated in the project.”
“I thank also, every employee of the municipality, I don’t want anyone to be left out. We don’t stop there, and we will continue to develop and rebuild the city. We have many important infrastructural projects planned for the next years,” added Kakha Kaladze.
As part of the project, water supply, sewerage, and gas networks were changed and renewed. Also, power lines were placed underground, sidewalks were laid, road work was carried out, and asphalt pavement was laid. For the purpose of security, a reinforced concrete wall was also installed in the area of Vake cemetery.
In addition, a new network of outdoor lighting was installed on both streets, and modern energy-efficient LED lights were installed. At the same time, about 40 underground waste bins were installed, safety islands, zebra crossings were installed; road sidewalks were drawn, road signs and AI-based “smart” traffic lights were installed; infrastructure on the streets was adapted for people with special needs.
At the final stage of the project, greening works were carried out in both streets – irrigation systems were installed, 180 seedlings of various types, and 2,100 sq.m. Grass cover was laid on the M area.
The project was jointly implemented by the City Hall Infrastructure Development Service, the Transport and Urban Development Agency, “Warm Service Group”, and the City Environmental Protection Service. The total cost of the works is 24 million GEL.
It is worth noting that the renovated streets are joining the already rehabilitated Chavchavadze Avenue and Tskneti Highway, creating a fully organized, modern transport and residential area. The new infrastructure will provide comfort and safety for pedestrians, public transport, and private vehicles.
Deputy Mayor, heads of relevant services of the municipality, Vake district governor, members of the city council and parliament were informed about the completed works together with the mayor of the capital.
