Rustavi, Georgia: A new football technical center has been opened in Rustavi. In the near future, the construction of a stadium with 8,000 spectators will begin in the city. The new football center, which unites two stadiums, was opened by Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze.
Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze, Minister of Infrastructure Revaz Sokhadze, Minister of Sports Shalva Gogoladze, Mayor of Rustavi Nino Latsabidze, and Football Federation President Levan Kobiashvili addressed the guests gathered at the opening of the new football center.
The head of government congratulated the Rustaveli people on the opening of a new football center. It stressed the importance of developing sports infrastructure to promote a healthy lifestyle for young people.
“We are people with exceptional sporting talent; we need to utilize this talent to the maximum, and that needs such investment.” I am sure that in this football center, many champions will grow and many football players will make our hearts happy in the future,” said Irakli Kobakhidze.
The Prime Minister also announced the start of a project to renovate the old stadium in Rustavi, which will be able to host both football and rugby international tournaments.
“In Rustavi, we plan to practically build a new stadium. The Ministry of Infrastructure has already begun the appropriate works, and very soon Rustavi will have a stadium with 8,000 spectators. It will be a stadium of international standards, which will host international tournaments. The infrastructure of the stadium will be completely adapted to the environment,” the Prime Minister noted.
According to the Georgian government’s decision, 12 rugby fields will be constructed throughout the country. According to Irakli Kobakhidze, this is very important for the development of sports and for establishing a healthy lifestyle among young people.
The Prime Minister thanked the Minister of Infrastructure Revaz Sokhadze and the Municipal Development Fund.
The event was attended by members of the government, Rustavi delegate Irakli Shatakishvili, member of parliament Alexander Dalakishvili, veteran and young football players.
