Tbilisi, Georgia: The Prosecutor’s Office of Georgia has charged one person with the illegal acquisition and storage of firearms, ammunition, explosive devices, and explosive substances.
The Georgian Prosecution Service posted the details of the crime on its official Facebook Page on Tuesday, October 7, 2025. The Service also shared some photos taken during the time of the arrest made by them.
Cause of charges
The police department of the State Security Service (SSS) of Georgia conducted an in-depth investigation into this case.
According to the investigation conducted by the State Security Service of Georgia revealed that a Georgian citizen illegally acquired a machine gun, a large number of cartridges, a grenade launcher, anti-tank shells, an explosive substance – TNT, and explosive devices – 3 electric detonators, two automatic firearms, which he illegally stored in a forest massif adjacent to a highway in the Mtskheta municipality.

The law enforcement officers arrested the accused on October 7, 2025, after the conclusion of the trial. He was charged with Article 108, which explains the intentional murder, and the third and fourth parts of Article 236, illegal purchase, storage, and carrying of firearms and ammunition of the Criminal Code of Georgia.Â
The Prosecutor’s Office will apply to the Tbilisi court within the time limit established by law to impose a preventive measure of imprisonment on the accused.
The prosecution official also said that they are committed to ensuring strict punishment for the accused of this heinous crime. They also said that people should provide the correct information about any offence to the enforcement agencies so that anti-social elements can be put behind bars after the investigation of their crime.Â
The investigation is continuing at the State Security Service of Georgia to identify all possible persons involved in the crime.
