Georgia: The Infrastructure Development City Service of Tbilisi City Hall carried out a complete rehabilitation of the Ortachalhesi bridge on the Mtkvari River.
In the first phase of large-scale reconstruction works, engineering and research works were carried out, based on which the rehabilitation process was planned.The mayor of the capital, Kakha Kaladze, inspected the completed project together with the deputy Irakli Bendeliani.
“The motor bridge mentioned was an accident. According to the project, relevant studies have not been conducted yet. Then the construction reinforcement works of the bridge were carried out. The drainage network, which was amortized, was replaced on the spot. Sidewalks have been arranged, and aerial power lines have been installed in underground cable channels. A new light network with LED lights was installed, and artistic lights were installed. The bridge is in order, and it is possible to move freely. There were some limitations during the implementation of the project; however, we could not do similar work otherwise,” said the mayor of Tbilisi.
As part of the project, the structural part of the bridge and damaged elements were restored and renovated. Also, the drainage system was replaced, wells were added, and waterproofing works were carried out.
The driveway has been completely renovated – the asphalt was laid and painted. After rehabilitation, the movement on the Ortachalhesi bridge is completely safe, and traffic has been restored both ways.
Along with the mayor of Tbilisi, Giorgi Abutidze, the head of the civil service for infrastructure development of the capital city hall, MPs of Parliament and City Council, as well as the acting head of ISN and the Krtsanisi district, were present.
