Breast Cancer Awareness Month is being observed throughout October, as part of the awareness campaign, an information meeting by the Ministry of Health and Social Affairs was held on women’s health in Georgia on Friday, October 24, 2025.
The Ministry of Health and Social Affairs of Adjara shared the glimpses with the details of the meeting on its official Facebook Page.
According to details shared by the Health Ministry, the aim of the meeting was to have an open dialogue on women’s health by engaging specialists, patients, and community representatives, as well as promoting the importance of early diagnosis of breast cancer.
Participants of the meeting
- The Minister of Health and Social Protection of Adjara, Nino Nizharadze, the Deputy Speaker of the Parliament of Georgia, Nino Tsilosani,
- The Deputy Chairman of the Batumi City Council, Natalia Zoidze,
- The Minister of Education and Sport of Adjara, Maia Khajishvili,
- The representatives of the medical and education sphere, and recovered patients.
Key Highlights of the Meeting
The meeting addressed several significant issues, including government policy on women’s health, education and awareness about women’s health concerns. During the meeting even the doctors present, shared their recommendations, even patient histories were discussed, and the role of government’s support was also emphasized.
At the end of the meeting, the participants were informed on the ongoing and scheduled screening campaigns under the Pink October campaign in Adjara, under the aegis of the National Center for Public Health and Disease Control.
Every year, around 2.3 million new cases of breast cancer are registered in the world, making it the most common oncological disease among women. It should also be noted that in Georgia, breast cancer is the most common cancer.
It is worth noting that there is a free state cancer screening program in the country, which provides preventive screenings for breast, cervical, and colon cancers. In addition, the state is funding cancer treatments, surgical procedures, expensive medication, chemotherapy, and radiation therapy.
