Georgia: The Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, Irakli Nadareishvili, participated in the international technology event Web Summit 2025.
At the large-scale technological summit held in Lisbon, the capital of Portugal, Georgia was represented by the thematic exhibition space and the initiative of “StartUP in Georgia”.
The Minister said, “The development of the national startup ecosystem is one of the main priorities of the policy that the Georgian government has been implementing for the last 10 years, and the goal of which is to develop an economy based on knowledge and innovation.”
“For this purpose, Georgia is participating in the largest technological event in the world for the third time. Both the country’s stand and Georgian startups are represented, which have the opportunity to talk to global investors or mentors about different projects,” said Irakli Nadareishvili.
Participants and visitors of the summit had the opportunity to get acquainted with and get comprehensive information about the business and investment environment and the advantages of the startup ecosystem in Georgia.
Web Summit is one of the largest international platforms in technology, bringing together more than 70,000 participants from more than 160 countries, hundreds of startups, investors, and international company representatives annually.
Georgian startups – Klics; BetterStep; VS1 – DeFi; Backoffice; Herio and Tasteit, which were distributed in different profile zones. A panel discussion was held within the framework of the summit, and one of the speakers was the Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development.
“We had a job to get to know global technological trends and products and introduce ourselves in this perspective.” “I took part in a panel discussion, where the discussion was specifically about the offer Georgia has for global startup innovation and technology companies – including tax breaks and the status of the startup that we recently introduced in Georgia,” noted Irakli Nadareishvili.
According to the Deputy Minister’s assessment, Georgia must be represented so diversely at the event – this will help attract new international investors to the country and develop both specific startups and the startup ecosystem in general. In addition, as Irakli Nadareishvili noted, four new global accelerators will start operation in Georgia from 2026, which will greatly contribute to startups, including in terms of international entry and investment.
Avtandil Kasradze, Chairman of the Agency for Innovation and Technologies, and Mikheil Khidureli, Director of the Agency “Produce in Georgia,” participated in Web Summit 2025.
