Georgia: At the meeting of the current Governmental Coordination Commission regarding the prices of food products, the Georgian Prime Minister, Irakli Kobakhidze, met with representatives of network markets.
As he said in the meeting, freedom of business is the main starting point for us, and naturally, it has its plus when a business entirely defines its own business in its own free opinion, but this is a very important social aspect, so we would like to discuss together how we can manage to reduce prices.
The Prime Minister of Georgia said, “I noted that it is the priority of the government to impose on the citizens the kindness that the country receives as a result of economic growth.”
According to him, when a business is free and free to operate, it helps the economy. Employment is important in all aspects, but in this case, the social burden is so heavy on the population that we decided to consult with some changes to the overall picture. In reality, there are cases where there is double, even triple, the difference between prices.
As he shared with Network Marketers, they wanted to discuss with them what can be done about this, and how some practices can be changed to manage pricing. Overall, the total average price increase according to our calculations is 86 percent. We think the price increase of 86% is pretty high. The number of markets in the country has doubled in five years.
There are 113 markets per 100,000 people in , while 45 in Germany and 62 in Austria. There are even lower rates. This is natural; in the endGeorgia, it will affect the price and burden the population as well.
Meetings of a similar format will be held with both distributors and local manufacturers. Also, the commission will work on medicines and fuel prices. About 15 representatives of large retail food chain markets attended the meeting.
