Georgia, ADB discuss expanding economic cooperation

Georgia: The Minister of Finance of Georgia, Lasha Khutsishvili, met with Lea Gutiérrez, the newly appointed Director General of the Central and West Asia Department of the Asian Development Bank (ADB), who is on a working visit to Georgia.

The Ministry of Finance of Georgia shared the glimpses of the meeting on its official Facebook Page on January 26, 2026, Monday. The Ministry also shared a small note about the meeting along with its glimpses.

During the meeting, special attention was paid to strengthening strategic partnerships and expanding cooperation in priority sectors that support Georgia’s sustainable economic growth and regional connectivity.

The sides also discussed the importance of ADB-supported reforms aimed at improving public finance management, enhancing investment climate, and promoting inclusive development across the country.

During the introductory meeting, the parties reviewed the dynamics of cooperation between Georgia and the Asian Development Bank. The discussion covered projects already implemented with the Bank’s support, as well as ongoing and planned initiatives in the fields of infrastructure, municipal development, energy, and other areas.

The Minister of Finance of Georgia briefed the visiting dignitary on the country’s current macroeconomic and fiscal indicators, as well as medium-term forecasts.

The meeting was attended by Ekaterine Guntsadze, Deputy Minister of Finance of Georgia, and Lesley Bearman Lahm, ADB Country Director for Georgia.
