Presentation of two important academic publications, “Kartli Life”, third volume, and Ortomeuli King Poets” was held at the National Academy of Sciences of Georgia.
The event was opened by Roin Metreveli, President of the National Academy of Sciences of Georgia. The society was also addressed by speech: Zaza Abashidze, the director of the National Center for Manuscripts, historians Goneli Arakhamia and Gia Gelashvili, and Director of Cultural Heritage for the Future Lana Tzelishvili.
The event was attended by Tinatin Nibloshvili, Chairman of the Tbilisi City Council, Rector of Tbilisi Theological Academy and Seminary, Protopresbyter Giorgi Zviadadze, Rector of the Tbilisi State University, Jaba Samushia, and representatives of the scientific and academic circle.
The publications represent important examples of Georgian historical and literary heritage, aiming to increase access to historical sources and the royal poetic tradition for both researchers and the general public.
In the third volume of “The Life of Georgian” there are important poems of Georgian historians of the XVIII century: “History of Tamar”, “History of Sekhnia Chkheidze, “Story of Georgia”, Papuna Orbeliani’s “Story of Kartlisani”, “Short History” of Oman Kherkheulidze, as well as “Life of Georgia” of XVII century historian, Farsadan Gorgijanidze, poems “Life of Georgia”. The presented texts contain important historical information about the political, cultural, and social life of Georgia. They are of special importance for the research on the development of Georgian historical thinking.
In Ortomeuli, “King Poets” united the poetic works of Georgian kings David Agmashenebeli, Demetre I, King Tamar, Teimuraz I, Archil II, Vakhtang VI, and Teimuraz II. The texts are prepared with academic precision and are based on already existing scientific publications, as well as the manuscripts protected at the National Center of Manuscripts of Georgia named after Corneli Kekelidze. The publications use digital copies of the manuscripts stored in the mentioned center, which gives the publications additional source value.
Ortomian “King Poets” was prepared by the “Cultural Heritage for the Future“, with the financial support of the Georgi Mtatsmindeli Georgological Center. The third volume of “Georgian Life” was published by the National Center for Manuscripts of Georgia, named after Corneli Kekelidze, with the financial support of Georgi Mtatsmindeli Georgological Center and Juansher Burchuladze.
