The mayor of Tbilisi, Kakha Kaladze, held a farewell meeting with the Turkish ambassador to Georgia and an introductory meeting with the Brazilian ambassador on March 12, 2026, Thursday.
At the meeting, the mayor of Tbilisi thanked the Turkish Ambassador Ali Khan Orbai for the contribution he made to the relations between the two countries during his work in Georgia.
“Thank you for your cooperation and for deepening relations between our countries and for greater friendship.” We greatly value the friendship between our countries. We will do our best to deepen this friendly relationship. I wish you success in your future endeavors. We remain as friends. Know that you have many friends in Georgia, even mine, as a regular Georgian,” said Kakha Kaladze.
In his turn, the Turkish ambassador noted that he felt very calm and secure in Tbilisi. “Thank you for taking the time to meet despite your busy schedule. I want to express my gratitude for the four years in this city where I felt at home. As a result of my work, I had to live in many countries, and I have never felt like I did in Tbilisi – safe and calm. I had the opportunity to personally follow the development of Tbilisi. It’s hard to lead historic cities because you know there’s something to do, and you can’t touch it because it has history. You’ve been able to get out of a situation sometimes; you’ll find a way out. I know that you have many new plans and projects in relation to Tbilisi. I wish you success and know that you have a friend in Ankara. I hope that in the future we will have the opportunity to meet again in different formats,” Kakha Kaladze said.
Regarding the meeting with the Brazilian Ambassador to Georgia, Carlos Martins Seglia, the Mayor of Tbilisi expressed his readiness to contribute to deepening the relationship between the two countries.
“It’s been a pleasure to meet you. I want you to prove my respect. Because of my previous occupation, I have many friends in Brazil. I really appreciate your culture and traditions. We are ready to work actively to make our relationships more intense,” said Kakha Kaladze.
In his turn, the ambassador of Brazil thanked the mayor of Tbilisi for the meeting and noted that it is an honor for him to be the ambassador of his country in Georgia and to work in Tbilisi. The parties expressed hope that their cooperation will be fruitful.
