Within the framework of the 59th annual meeting of the Asian Development Bank (ADB), the Minister of Finance of Georgia, Lasha Khutsishvili, and the manager of the Asian Development Bank from Georgia, met Masato Kanda, the President of the Asian Development Bank.
The Ministry of Finance of Georgia shared glimpses of the meeting on its official Facebook Page on Monday, May 4, 2026. The Finance Ministry also shared a small note about the meeting along with its glimpses.
The parties reviewed many years of successful relations between Georgia and the Asian Development Bank, both in the public and private sectors.
It is worth noting that the bank’s portfolio in Georgia currently stands at approximately $6 billion, including the value of current projects exceeding $ 2 billion. Additional work is underway on projects worth up to $ 1 billion within the framework of the current year’s action plan.
Lasha Khutsishvili introduced to the President of the Bank about the macroeconomic and fiscal parameters of Georgia, including the progress made by the country towards economic growth and medium-term forecasts.
He thanked the ADB President for the investments made and ongoing in the country in key sectors such as roads, energy, and regional and municipal development.
Attention was focused on the involvement of ADB in infrastructure projects of international importance, which is linked to strengthening Georgia’s transport and logistics potential, digital connectivity, energy security, and independence in the Middle Corridor Project.
In his turn, the President of the Asian Development Bank also noted the strengthening of Georgia’s role in mid-corridor infrastructure through investments and expressed readiness to continue active cooperation on bilateral and regional levels.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Finance Minister Ekaterine Guntsadze, ADB Alternative Executive Director Lisa Wright, ADB Central and West Asia Department Lea Gutierrez, and representatives of the Asian Development Bank.
