A working meeting was held to assess the compliance of above-ground equipment used in the aviation services sector in Georgia, organized by the Civil Aviation Agency of Georgia (GCAA). The event was held within the framework of the European Air Navigation Security Organization (EUROCONTROL) project. The head of the agency, Givi Davitashvili, opened the working meeting with a welcome speech.

During the three-day working meeting, an expert from EUROCONTROL introduced the participants to the concept of assessing the compliance of ground equipment used in the aviation services sector, as well as the regulatory framework and requirements. Attention was paid to the stages of implementation of the assessment, the necessary technical infrastructure, and features.

In addition, the meeting emphasized the challenges that come with transitioning to a new evaluation system. Particular emphasis was placed on the issues of upgrading the change management process of the aviation service enterprise and the simplification of procedures for technical equipment recognition during the period of implementation of the European standard.

The Georgian Civil Aviation Agency (GCAA) has already begun working on the implementation of European requirements for the assessment of the compliance of ground equipment used in the field of air service. The goal of the harmonization of the new standards in the national legislation is to establish a unified legal framework for evaluating, certifying, declaring, and approving the compliance of the equipment used in aviation service and their components, and approval of manufacturing organizations. This will promote the efficiency, reliability, continuity, and integrity of the operation of the equipment used in aviation service.

Together with the employees of the Civil Aviation Agency, at the invitation of the agency, representatives of the Ministry of Defense, Georgian and Armenian air service companies, and airports participated in the event.
