The employees of the National Forest Agency, in May this year, revealed 56 instances of violation, of which 45 involved the illegal acquisition and transportation of wood.
In total, up to 45 cubic meters of various types of illegally obtained sawdust and mercury, which were supposed to be stored in the forest agency’s “busy yards,” were seized.
The National Forestry Agency of Georgia shared a small note, revealing violations related to illegal acquisition and transportation of wood in various regions of the country. The Agency also shared a photograph mentioning the number of violations related to this, along with the note, on its official Facebook page on June 8, 2026, Monday.
According to the information provided by the National frestry Agency of
Georgia, it should be noted that, 5 violations of illegal logging of trees throughout the country have been revealed by the employees of Imereti Forest Service, 5 – Samtskhe-Javakheti, 4 – Racha-Lechkhumi-Lower Svaneti, 18 – Lower Kartli, 1 – Mtskheta-Mtianeti, 7 – Guria, 4 – Samegrelo-Upper Svaneti, and 1 – Shida Kartli Forest Service.
It is worth noting that 2 of the offenses contain criminal offenses. Therefore, the materials, for further investigation, were sent to law enforcement authorities.
In parallel with the facts of illegal acquisition and transportation of trees and forests, 11 facts of self-seizure of state forests have been revealed, out of which 8 are in Shida Kartli, 2 in Kakheti, and 1 in Samegrelo-Upper Svaneti regions.
In the period of January-May 2026, the employees of the National Forest Agency revealed 319 cases of illegal logging throughout the country.
In May of this year, employees of the
