The Minister of Education and Culture of the Autonomous Republic of Abkhazia, Giorgi Dzadzamia, attended the opening ceremony of the Georgian Youth Olympic Festival in Batumi.
The Ministry of Education and Culture of the Autonomous Republic of Abkhazia shared the glimpses of the opening ceremony on its official Facebook page on June 3, 2026, Wednesday. The Ministry also shared a small note about the event along with its glimpses.
The President of the National Olympic Committee of Georgia, Olympic Champion Leri Khabelov, Chairman of the Adjara Government Zurab Pataradze, Minister of Sport of Georgia Shalva Gogoladze, and Chairman of the Organizing Committee of the Georgian Youth Olympic Festival Elguja Berishvili addressed the community attending the event.
According to the small note shared by the Ministry of Education and Culture, it should be noted that the opening ceremony of the festival, Olympic, World, and European champion and prize-winning athletes raised the flag of the National Olympic Committee of Georgia. The Olympic oath ceremony was also held, and the national anthem of Georgia was performed.
The event was attended by representatives of the government of the Autonomous Republic of Abkhazia, representatives of central and local governments, members of the Olympic Committee, coaches, young athletes, delegations from different regions, and other guests.
About 1200 athletes from all regions of Georgia will compete in 17 sports in the festival. On behalf of the Sports Federations of the Autonomous Republic of Abkhazia, 63 athletes are participating in 10 sports, under the leadership of 14 coaches.
It is noteworthy that the Georgian Youth Olympic Festival was organized by the initiative of the National Olympic Committee of Georgia and with the support of the Georgian Government.
