A large-scale free medical campaign was organized by the Ministry of Health in the Republic of Rukhi, which aims to promote preventive medicine, early detection of diseases, and increase access to quality medical services among the population.
The Ministry of Internally Displaced Persons, Labor, Health, and Social Welfare of Georgia shared the glimpses of the campaign on its Official Facebook Page on June 20, 2026, Saturday. The Georgian Health Ministry also shared a small note about the meeting along with its glimpses.
According to the small note shared by the Georgian Health Ministry, it should be noted that the medical rally was attended by Minister of Health Mikheil Sarjveladze and Minister of State for Reconciliation and Civil Equality, Tea Akhvlediani.
According to the Minister of Health, the rally in Rukh is part of a wide-scale screening campaign being carried out by the National Centre for Disease Control and Public Health in the country. Mikheil Sarjveladze stressed the importance of preventive medicine and noted that the early detection of diseases is one of the most effective ways to protect health and save lives.
As part of the campaign, citizens had the opportunity to get free screening tests for breast, cervical, rectal, and prostate cancers, as well as hepatitis B and C, and hypertension. At the same time, specialists of Rukhi Republic Hospital provided free consultations of cardiologists, neurosurgeons, and gynecologists to adult patients, and various diagnostic tests were conducted.
Pay special attention to children’s health – with the involvement of the Government of the Autonomous Republic of Abkhazia, pediatric consultations and necessary medical tests were provided free of charge to children displaced from Abkhazia.
The event was also attended by Samegrelo-Upper Svaneti State Trustee David Verava, Irakli Purtseladze, Director General of the National Center for Disease Control and Public Health, his deputy Eka Adamia, Director of Rukhi Republican Hospital Sergo Pipia, and representatives of the local government and medical field.
