The Ministry of Sport has given two new international standard boats to the National Water Skiing Federation for the 2026 European and African Open Championships.
The Ministry of Sport of Georgia shared glimpses of the boats given to the National Water Skiing Federation on its official Facebook Page on July 8, 2026. The Georgian Sports Ministry also shared a small note about the upcoming championships.
2026 European and African Open Championship will be held on July 24-26 at the waterskiing sports base on the Golden Lake. For the championship, the Ministry of Sport of Georgia awarded two new international standard competition boats to the National Federation of Water Skiing Sports.
Minister of Sports Shalva Gogoladze, Mayor of Poti Beka Vacharadze and President of the Federation Rati Melia attended the first test sail of the Ski Nautique 2025 model boats on the Golden Lake.
The boats fully meet the requirements of the International Water Skiing Federation (IWWF). They are equipped with the latest technologies, including Zero Off GPS Tournament Speed Control system, specially-configured running housing, automatic Hydro-Gate and MicroTuners systems to create maximum accurate and even conditions for athletes.
The trains are also equipped with PCM ZZ6 engines, and these types of trains are used in the world and European championships. IWWF-certified drivers run the jams while the races are underway.
Up to 120 athletes from 20 different European and African countries will participate in the championship. The championship will be held in three main disciplines: slalom, figure skipping and trampoline.
Poti has a special historical connection with water skiing: in 1991 the first European Championship in this sport was held in Poti.
