Adjara holds joint session on women and children’s rights

A joint session of central, regional, and local councils working on women and children’s issues was held in the Adjara High Council. Members of representative bodies from all three levels participated in the trilateral meeting.                                                               

The Chairman of the High Council of AdjaraTsotne Ananidze addressed the society attending the meeting, focusing on the great experience that Georgia has in this regard.

“Today we have the opportunity to meet with representatives from all three levels of government, to focus on improving the conditions of women and children. Governments at all three levels have quite good experience in resolving these issues, which enables us to, in general, share Georgia’s achievements in other countries,” said the chairman of the Adjara Legislative Body.

The main goal of the joint session of the temporary committee of the Georgian Parliament working on women and children’s affairs, the central, regional and local governments, improving the rights of women and children, joint analysis of current challenges and future strategy, was represented.

At the meeting, a member of the Adjara High Council, the Chairman of the Council Working on Women and Children Affairs in the Regional Legislative Body, Fati Khalvashi, presented a report on topical issues. The rapporteur introduced current priorities and plans to the participants of the meeting, along with the action plan of the Council.

The action plan, priorities, and future visions of the Batumi Municipal Council were also presented by Natalia Zoidze, the First Deputy Chairman of the Council Working on Women and Children’s Issues. Mariam Lashkh, the Chairman of the Temporary Committee of the Parliament of Georgia working on Women and Children, emphasized in her speech the need to promote the improvement of the socio-economic status of families with children and the initiatives in this regard.

At the end of the meeting, the participants emphasized the importance of similar format work meetings in the process of effectively solving existing challenges and coordinated implementation of strategic plans.
