Chairman of the Adjara Government Zurab Pataradze, together with the Minister of Health and Social Protection, Nino Nizharadze, met with representatives of the medical field of the region.

The meeting discussed current issues in the healthcare sector, the dynamics of the implementation of current programs and existing challenges; it also discussed strengthening capabilities and improving medical services.

The Chairman of the Government noted that during the active tourist season, it is especially important to maintain a stable environment and offer quality medical services to local people or visitors.

“We discussed the challenges in the healthcare sector with the heads of clinics and doctors and discussed plans. Given the high tourist flows, it is important to provide timely and quality medical services. The budget of the Adjara Ministry of Healthcare is dynamically growing, which means more programs and more opportunities for our population. The development of medical infrastructure is also ongoing. Very soon, the construction of three medical institutions in the region will be completed. It is important for us to involve representatives of the medical field, take into account their opinions and recommendations to further improve healthcare programs and services available to the population in accordance with existing needs,” said Zurab Pataradze.

The meeting was conducted in interactive mode. Representatives from the medical field presented views and recommendations on the needs in the healthcare system and how to solve them. It has been noted that in connection with the tourist season, the Public Health Center will continuously take measures to control the epidemiological situation in Adjara and prevent infectious diseases.

The development of medical infrastructure in the region also continues. The construction of the N1 polyclinic, the emergency medical center and the multifunctional pediatric clinic is being completed near the Batumi Republican Hospital, and the construction of a new, modern standard clinic of the Regional Center for Infectious Diseases, AIDS and Tuberculosis is also planned.

The meeting focused on the programs planned in the social direction – the construction of social houses continues both in Batumi and in the municipalities. According to Zurab Pataradze, the main task of the government’s policy in this direction is not only to provide beneficiaries with housing, but also to create a full-fledged and decent living environment for families.

The working meeting was attended by Rusudan Shavishvili, the director of the Public Health Center, the Government of Adjara and the Ministry of Health, as well as representatives of the medical institutions of the region, including the Infectious Hospital, the Republic Hospital and N1 Polyclinic.
