The Chairman of the Government of Ajara, Zurab Pataradze, together with the Minister of Infrastructure of Georgia, Revaz Sokhadze, and the Minister of Education and Sports of Ajara, Maia Khajishvili, got acquainted with the educational infrastructure projects implemented and ongoing in Batumi by the Municipal Development Fund.
The government representatives got acquainted with the completed rehabilitation works in Batumi Public Schools No. 4 and No. 5, the renovated infrastructure in Kindergartens No. 3 and No. 12, as well as the ongoing reconstruction-rehabilitation process in Kindergarten No. 18.
Batumi Public Schools No. 4 and No. 5 will have a total of 2,400 students. The schools have been equipped with modern standards for teaching and common spaces; engineering systems and external infrastructure have been updated, and the buildings have been fully adapted for students with special educational needs. In school No. 5, the library and science laboratory were renovated, a mini-football field was arranged, and in school No. 4, the sports field and yard were renovated, and the energy efficiency of the building was improved.
Kindergartens No. 3 and No. 12 were fully rehabilitated. Internal and external spaces, engineering, heating and security systems, bathrooms and kitchens were arranged. Also, works on strengthening kindergarten No. 18 and complete renovation of internal and external spaces continue. The Municipal Development Fund announced tenders for the implementation of new educational infrastructure projects in Adjara.
These include the construction of a new kindergarten for 200 children in the Gonio settlement and the reconstruction and rehabilitation of the Riketi public school in the village of Khulo municipality.
In total, nine new and rehabilitated kindergartens will be added to Batumi in the near future. Three of them will be able to start the educational process from the new academic year, four will be completed by the end of the year, and two more kindergarten projects will be completed in January 2027.
The ongoing works within the framework of the projects were visited by representatives of the Government of Ajara and the Ministry of Infrastructure of Georgia, Director of the Municipal Development Fund Giorgi Shonia, Mayor of Batumi Giorgi Tsintsadze, Chairman of the Batumi City Council Ivane Maisuradze, and representatives of local self-government.
