Agriculture Ministry recalls achievements between 2018-2022

Georgia: The USAID agriculture program representatives presented the research report “Agricultural Achievements 2018-2022” at a meeting held at the Ministry of Environment and Agriculture. 

The presentation was attended by Minister of Environment Protection and Agriculture Otar Shamugia, Deputy Minister Tengiz Nasaridze and representatives of relevant agencies and departments of the Ministry.

The Minister thanked the representatives of the USAID agriculture program for their activities and successful cooperation.

Otar Shamugia said, “We have been cooperating successfully for many years.”

“With USAID on agricultural development. With their support, we have implemented several successful programs and projects. Through the joint, coordinated activities of state and international donor organizations, it has been possible to achieve the positive results we have in several areas of agriculture,” he added.

“The study report “Agriculture Achievements in 2018-2022″ and the recommendations presented will allow us to further accurately define priorities and plan future projects so that the field can develop rapidly and effectively,” said Otar Shamugia.

This study is the third research carried out by USAID Agriculture Program. The research report “Agriculture Achievements in 2018-2022” was prepared by Goran Zhivkov and Ivana Dulich Markovich, international consultants of the USAID Agriculture Program.

The research report includes areas such as:

  • The impact of the global environment on the Georgian agriculture sector
  • Total value added in agriculture, development of land and credit market
  • Provision of plant care and protection (pesticides, fertilizers)
  • Fertilizer
  • Mechanization
  • Increase in production level
  • Qualification of entrepreneurs
  • Post-harvest Improve management
  • Recycled product
  • Quality Orientation
  • The whole trade of agricultural products
  • Product development cycle

The report also includes recommendations to promote the development of the field.

The research carried out by USAID Agriculture Program was positively evaluated at the meeting. It was noted that in the near future, the authors of the study will present the report to the general public.
