Otar Shamugia attended the presentation report of Adjara agriculture Ministery

Tbilisi: Otar Shamugia the Georgian Minister of Environment Protection and Agriculture attended the report of activities that were completed by the Adjara Ministry of Agriculture in 2023. He appreciated the effort of the local Agriculture ministry for the improvement of the agriculture sector of the area under its jurisdiction.

On this occasion Minister of Environment Protection and Agriculture Otar Shamugia was accompanied by the Chairman of the Adjara Government Tornike Rizhvadze. They participated in the specific event of the presentation of the activity report in 2023 by the Adjara Ministry of Agriculture in various areas, which includes Batumi etc.

It is to be noted that Zaza Shavadze, Minister of Agriculture of Adjara presented the report at this event. He summed up one year’s activities and talked about the plans of the agency for the next year of 2024.

Notably Chairman of the Adjara Government positively made an assessment of the activities of the Ministry of Agriculture and underscored that next year the Ministry would have an increased budget with an aim to support local farmers even more.

On the other hand, Minister Otar Shamugia focused on the projects that the Ministry of Environment and Agriculture is implementing together with the Adjara government.

As per Minister Otar Shamugia,” Along with the Ajara Ministry of Agriculture we are implementing almost 15 projects to help farmers and entrepreneurs of the areas. These projects will fully embrace the value chain. These projects have given us excellent results that over the last ten years the country’s agricultural production has increased by 112 per cent, and export has increased by almost 150 per cent”.

He also said, “A few days ago the Prime Minister of the Republic of Georgia summed up the last year’s activities. I think everyone should be happy about the fact that the country is making tangible progress in the agriculture field. Moreover Every region of Georgia has its own contribution to this progress. The region of Adjara has exceptionally great potential”.

The Minister also spoke about various measures for environmental protection and stressed that reform in the forest sector will be implemented after the adoption of the Forest Code in the entire country. Otar Shamugia discussed the challenges of climate change and noted that both around the world and in Georgia, there is a need for an active joint effort on climate change in order to achieve concrete and tangible results.

Minister Otar Shamugia and the Chairman of the Adjara Government, Tornike Rizhvadze, congratulated the attending public on granting EU candidate status and thanked everyone who contributed to the decision.

The report presentation was attended by the Chairman of the Supreme Council of Adjara, Davit Gabaidze, along with members of the Cabinet of Ministers of Adjara, municipality mayors, deputies of the Supreme Council, entrepreneurs and other officials. The important event was ended with an award ceremony. Otar Shamugia awarded employees of the Ministry of Agriculture and Broadcasting Institutions for their contribution to the field and also encouraged them for more contribution to make the agriculture sector more progressive.
